Midwestern Floods

No Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help.
No looters. No rapes. No murders.
No one in the media is asking tough questions about why the Federal Government hasn't solved the problem.
No one is being relocated by the Government to free hotels.
Spike Lee won't say the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines or Hannibal, MO.
No Sean Penn. No Dixie Chicks.
No one is declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people.
There's none of it.
There's just a lot of people helping each other until the waters subside.

Midwestern Floods
Absolutely correct!!
Except...........the stories on rape & murder (or the most sensationalized) later proved to be untrue.
We won't ask/mention the million$$$ dollars of ice that was never delivered....the other million$ for rental storage for supplies that sat in warehouses instead of being delivered. All later destroyed.
But... they do have some trailers.......with known health hazards included. But... there were over a dozen tractor trailers with basic household needs delivered to the people you refer to......they arrived last week!
We all know how much George Bush loves us all! Just ask the relief/rescue hero's from 9/11; the ones that cannot get health insurance or treatment due to exposure at ground zero. Or ask the veteran's that have been declared disabled (many due to injuries suffered in combat)....then discharged......and have to wait up to a year before receiving ANY disability benefits.
Those affected by the floods are remarkable, strong people. The thousands of volunteers should be thanked. They are all in our thoughts and prayers. We should all chip in and help. Is it really necessary to denigrate others that have suffered or is it necessary to brag (?)about how much better you are than some of our fellow countrymen?
No deaths...
I don't understand why people are using this flood as a reason to bash the people of New Orleans. The circumstances are completely different. For instance, as far as I know only about 50 people have died from this flood. Over a thousand people died in New Orleans.
Let's also not forget the people trapped in the city as the surrounding communities wouldn't let them leave. Trapped, no water, no one to care because of "rumors" of violence. Rumors that proved to be unfounded.
Many of the people here in Missouri had friends and family to stay with. In New Orleans, entire neighborhoods were wiped out, including everyone these people knew.
We have hundreds of home inundated, they had thousands.
We should all chip in and help each other. Starting with a little empathy for those who had it a whole lot harder than most of us.
